A 1978 Bailiwick of Guernsey twenty-five pence coin commemorating a royal visit, pairing a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with Guernsey’s distinctive three-lion shield. Its heraldic design makes it an appealing addition to a collection of royal commemoratives or Channel Islands coinage.
The obverse features the Queen’s right-facing portrait surrounded by the inscription “QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND” and the denomination “TWENTY FIVE PENCE.” The reverse displays a shield bearing three lions, topped by a small sprig, with the date 1978 divided across the design and the inscriptions “BAILIWICK OF GUERNSEY” and “ROYAL VISIT.”
A small piece of royal commemorative history to examine, display and enjoy alongside other Elizabeth II issues. Please review both photographs for the coin’s visible condition; no formal grade or metal composition is stated.
