This 1968 Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Coronation Commemorative Silver Proof Medal combines a royal portrait with a striking border of elongated triangular rays. Bright raised details contrast with darker, reflective fields, giving both faces a distinctive framed appearance.

Design details

• Portrait face: A left-facing bust of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in ceremonial dress, surrounded by lettering naming the Sultan and commemorating his coronation.
• Date: The inscription “1 OGOS 1968” appears beneath the portrait.
• Reverse: A central ceremonial motif with two stylised supporting figures and lettering below.
• Border: A bold repeating pattern of pointed rays encircles the central design on both sides.

A distinctive addition to a collection of Brunei medals or royal commemoratives. Displaying either face brings out the contrast between the finely outlined central imagery and the medal’s geometric outer border.
